Pictures for Dad

It's Father's Day. I don't know what other husbands out there like to do for this special day, but mine doesn't like to make a big deal out of it. He likes to spend the time with the kids, but he never wants gifts, or anything too out of the ordinary. I usually end up just feeding him really good, and I definitely did that for him today! But I thought it would be nice if the kids made a picture for him of his favorite spot... the beach.

We took a trip down to the beach close to sunset and brought pieces of paper, crayons, and a lapboard. (I made really neat travel cases for the crayons I should share in a later post.) The kids then watched the waves crash on the shore and drew their version of what they saw to give to Dad. This idea can be done anywhere, where ever dad's favorite spot in your neighborhood is. Take your kids to a park, the bowling alley, or the fishing dept @ the sports store to have your kids draw a picture for him of something he loves.

Here's picture number 1. A big wave next to the sandy shore. The orange guy in the wave is Dad surfing. (He doesn't surf, by the way.) And then there's our blanket of stuff on the beach where the rest of us are sitting.

And picture number 2. It's not upside down. The blue is the sky. The circles with x's are signs that say "no dogs allowed". Somehow the water is missing from this picture, but it's all the artists interpretation... there is no wrong when it comes to art.
